Control and performance of a medium-voltage cascade H-bridge STATCOM

Abstract

STATCOM (Static Synchronous Compensator) comprising cascade multilevel inverter has broad application prospects in medium-voltage reactive power compensation field. It designs a medium voltage reactive power compensation device on the basis of principle analyzing of STATCOM and carrier phase-shifted SPWM of multilevel inverter, and verifies its control algorithm. Simulation and experimental results show the feasibility of the system with dynamic responses and fine compensation performance.
