Abstract

Based on high temperature characteristics of solar absorber of solar thermal propulsion (STP), a thermal photoelectric (TPV) system is designed and simulated in this paper. The inlet parameters and channel sizes of hydrogen coolant which make the working temperature of PV module approach the rated value are obtained by investigating the temperature field of PV module. The calculational results show that the output of PV module is about 50 to 100W at the absorber temperature equal to 2400K.The expected I-V characteristics would be realized by regulating the number of series/parallel cells. The conclusions are valuable for investigations of thermal/PV system of STP.
