Abstract

Sound level is an important index to indicate urban ambitious noise. It is much related with urban environment since different areas have different no is elevel. This is much influenced by the ways of urban development as different urban topology causing different sounds. Urban development indices are the factors to determine an urban topology. Shenzhen is a metropolis including various topologies. In this study, sixteen areas have been explored to discover how urban development indices to influence sound levels. Development index such as FAR, building coverage ratio, road density and green ratio has been studied. It is found there is a strong link of sound levels and development indices. The result is helpful to urban planners to take noise issue into account at the planning stage.
