Abstract

The microstructure and mechanical properties of ADC12 aluminum alloy connecting rod cap produced by die casting and by squeezing casting was comparatively studied. The results reveal that mechanical properties of the squeezing casting connecting rod cap are obviously superior to those of die casting ones. There exists obvious segregation in the microstructure of die casting connecting rod cap, while it exhibits compact structure in squeezing casting ones, so tensile strength, elongation and hardness (HRB) reach up to 367MPa, 6.4% and 64∼66, respectively.
