Abstract

With increasing demand for light-w eight w orkpiece w ith high strength and good heat and corrosion resistance, titanium alloys are w idely used in aviation and aerospace industries. For these materials, hot spinning should be adopted in power spinning process due to their low ductility and high strength. In this paper, the microstructure evolution of TA15 titanium alloy was studied based on plane compression model. A series of isothermal plane compression experiments of TA15 titanium alloy were conducted on an Instron 5569 test machine under different conditions of temperature, strain and strain rate and then heat treatment were performed. The influence of deformation parameters on the microstructure of TA15 titanium alloy was analyzed through plane compression experiment, and the microstructures of hot plane compression w ere compared w ith that of hot pow er spinning. The study provides the probability to control the microstructure and mechanical property of as-spun titanium alloy through plane-strain compression experiment.
