Comparative experiment on vibrating compaction and modified proctor compaction of performance of graded crushed aggregate

Abstract

In order to establish the transforming relation between modified proctor compaction method (MPCM) and vibrating compaction method (VCM), three types of graded crushed aggregate performance were compared between the VCM and MPCM, The results show that physical and mechanical indexes of two methods take on linearity. Physical and mechanical indexes of VCM exceed that of MPCM. There is a crushed action for stone by MPCM and crushed action exists a critical void. The orientation characteristics of VCM for granule crushed make graded crushed aggregate form good framework. Physical and mechanical indexes fully reflect the structure difference of different types of graded crushed aggregate material, but due to materials and method unharmonized, MPCM makes the mechanical performance equilibration.
