Abstract
A laser diode pumped sub-nanosecond electro-optically Q-switched 1064 nm Nd:YVO4 laser is demonstrated by a phase shift adjustment method. The shortest pulse width of 728 ps and pulse energy of 0.41 mJ is obtained at a repetition rate of 1 kHz, corresponding to a peak power of ∼ 563 kW. The laser has high amplitude stability with a coefficient of variation of 3.2 %. The beam quality factors of the pulsed 1064 nm laser are measured to be Mx2 = 1.69 and My2 = 1.44.
