Abstract

Ubiquitous computing provides powerful methods for real-time information exchange, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) is widely considered as an effective tool for information integration and sharing. This paper aims to integrate ubiquitous computing with BIM to support real-time information exchange and sharing in construction projects, and to use such a platform to study construction management in a collaborative construction environment. More specifically, the first step of the study involves the analysis and validation of information processing rules and collaborative construction mechanisms in ubiquitous computing environments. Secondly, methods of developing BIM-based information space are studied in this paper. The aim is to establish various dynamic construction information models. Thirdly, a framework of collaborative construction system is established based on ubiquitous computing and BIM.
