Abstract
CIMS plays an important role in the field of continuous process automation. In this paper, the problem of process monitoring and control for alcohol production is first presented. A three-layer DCS is used for process measurement and monitoring, in which fuzzy logic-based PID controllers are utilized to fine-tune the key parameters. We also explore the optimal control strategy in both off-line and on-line optimization. The implementation details of these two proposed schemes under a CIMS information integration environment are further given.
