Abstract

In order to simplify the complex modeling and increase the analysis efficiency of reticulated domes under impact, a single-layer Kiewitt-8 reticulated dome under vertical impact was simulated by ANSYS/LS-DYNA. The failure mode was distinguished and the impact force-time curves were acquired. Analysing the characteristics of impact load and according to the momentum theorem and the law of conservation of energy, a simplified force-time function model was presented. With the aid of this simplified model, the impact resistance capacity of the structure was simply and effectively estimated.
