abstract = "Electrochromic materials are able to change their optical properties when a low electrical voltage is applied. They have found a wide range of applications in smart windows, low-power display devices, controlled rear mirrors, and spacecraft thermal control. In order to develop the electrochromic materials in practical applications, rational design and exploration of their architectures play a crucial role. By outlining the remaining problems of electrochromic technology and the advantages of nanostructures, we point out the significant value of combining electrochromism with various nanostructures. We herein present the latest progress of the various nanostructures and their synthesis processes, electrochromic performance as well as other unique properties.",
