Abstract

For long distance ultra-high lift water transmission project, a power failure or a pump-trip accident can cause sudden change of the pressure in pipeline (M. Rohani, 2010). According to the requirement of security, an effective protective method must be taken into account for the relevant pipelines in the long distance transmission. This paper took East Gebi molybdenum (EGM) water supply project as an example, three kinds of hammer protecting devices has been investigated and evaluated, which are two-phase control valve, one-way surge tank and hydropneumatic tank (Cao Yuan A, 2012). Based on the simulation results, a feasible water hammer protection scheme is selected respectively. The parameters of the protecting devices are identified to protection by systematic simulation (Algirdas Kaliatkaa, 2010). According to the simulation results, the effective protecting scheme of water hammer would be using hydropneumatic tank to reduce the surge damage combined with the application of the air valve.
