Abstract

In this paper, we investigate the capacity and performance of the soft-output minimum men square error (MMSE) ordering successive interference cancellation (OSIC) detector for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM) system. We consider two methods to perform interference cancellation, which are maximum a posteriori probability (MAP) hard decision interference cancellation (HDIC) and soft interference cancellation (SIC). A reduced-complexity implementation for all of them is also proposed. Furthermore, we derived link level capacity (LLC) under ideal fast-fading conditions. Simulation results show that the soft-output MMSE OSIC detector outperforms MMSE and all of them are strongly superior to conventional MMSE OSIC detectors.
