abstract = "This paper proposed a new method for the problem of capacitor optimal switching based on electrical dissection of AC branches. For a certain state of distribution network, the electrical dissection method can dissect the original radial distribution network into some chained dissected sub-networks. For each chained dissected sub-network, capacitor switching sub-volume can be found to minimize power loss of the chained dissected sub-network subjected to bus voltage limits. After having solved all power loss minimization problems of all the chained dissected sub-networks, the capacitor switching volumes have obtained. For the new state, the processes of dissection and computing switching sub-volumes are repeated to find new switching volumes. After iterating above steps few times, optimal results have been obtained. The method of this paper has been applied to IEEE 69 testing systems, and the results show that it can satisfy the need of on-line real time analysis in large-scale distribution systems because of its low workload and fast convergence.",
