Abstract

A simple and rapid method is proposed for automatic identification of articulated CMM kinematics parameters using an artifact with holes and a single point multi-posture algorithm. The links and probe of articulated CMM and the artifact form a closed loop. Based on D-H convention, the error model and the calibration model are founded. The least square and the iterative algorithm are employed. Finally, this calibration procedure is proven feasible based on calibration experiments. The experiment results indicate that it is possible to identify an accurate kinematics model of the articulated CMM using the proposed closed-loop approach.
