N2 - The electromagnetic scattering characteristics of objects are always concerned, but there are still many difficulties in the calculation method. Especially for Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) echo simulation, the electromagnetic simulation calculation of incident wave in each azimuth is needed, which requires a large amount of calculation and time. Therefore, a cell-wise extrapolation (CWE) method is proposed to calculate the electromagnetic scattering characteristics of each cell. Adding Doppler information to the calculation results of each cell can achieve the purpose of quickly calculate the electromagnetic scattering characteristics and echo in each azimuth. The proposed method can be used for metal object, dielectric object, and mixed material object. Moreover, three different materials of the object are tested to verify the effectiveness, and the numerical results show that the CWE can achieve satisfactory accuracy compared with the conventional Near Field/Far Field (NF/ FF) method.
