Abstract
Multilayer corrugated steel rotor damper is a rotor dry friction damping supporting element. The damper can work under high or low temperature condition. The characteristics of the damper are affected little by the rotor eccentricity, and the energy dissipation performance of the damper can be improved by adjusting the steel thickness. According to the energy distribution of multilayer corrugated steel damper, a calculation method of energy dissipation coefficient is presented based on finite element method and tribology principle. In the calculation method, firstly the contact stress is calculated by finite element method. Then, a formula to calculate the energy dissipation due to friction between two layers of dry friction surfaces is deduced by using the Mindlin contact model. Finally, the energy dissipation coefficient of the whole damper is obtained. The calculation method is correct and feasible, and the precision is high, as verified by the experiment.
