Abstract

Available transfer capability (ATC) of interconnected power systems is important information for all the participants in the power markets. An optimal power flow (OFF) technique based on the sequential quadratic programming (SQP) and the enumeration method for power system reliability analysis are used to calculate the total transfer capabilities (TTCs) of interconnected power systems and their probability distributions. A probabilistic model used to determine the optimum ATC has been developed based on maximizing system benefit. The bisection search method is employed to reduce the computing time. Numerical results clearly show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
