Abstract

An automated technique to measure the settling velocity of particles in slurries has been developed. With digital imaging and developed processing techniques, the liquid-solid interface can be located automatically in real time. The good agreement of the settling curves and the settling velocities between the manual method and the current technique has demonstrated the reliability of the system. This system can be used for industrial applications such as batch slurry testing.
