Abstract

An acoustic wave asymmetric propagation is implemented by a conical granular chain here. The chain size is gradually changed interacting via Hertzian contacts. Theoretical modeling and numerical analysis are conducted to investigate the diode-like propagation behavior. Results show that the chain blocks/allows the low-frequency acoustic wave, which depend on different configurations and driving amplitudes in a broad frequency band.
