Abstract
The biological characteristics of Thiobacillus denitrificans and its application in three processes of aerobic de-sulfide, anaerobic de-sulfide and anaerobic denitrification are summarized and the metabolism pathway of Thiobacillus denitrificans, the treatment capability and key affecting factors of different processes are demonstrated. It is concluded that Thiobacillus denitrificans has such advantage as wide ecological amplitude, extracellular sulfur accumulation and denitrification under anaerobic conditions, it is therefore possible to develop a novel simultaneously denitrification and de-sulfide process by supplying Thiobacillus denitrificans as engineering microbes (EM).
