abstract = "In the field of territorial sea protection, the detection of underwater vehicles is very important. Among the detection methods, infrared detection has many advantages. To make full use of infrared technology for detection, we put forward a new algorithm. In this paper, the infrared thermal wake of underwater vehicle is distinguished from that of vehicle on surface by the shape feature matching method based on Fourier descriptor. Firstly, the infrared image is processed and the thermal wake region is segmented. The thermal wake contour is extracted by contour tracking algorithm. The existence of the thermal wake of underwater vehicle is preliminarily judged based on the maximum area of connected regions and the number of connected regions. Then, the shape feature matching method of Fourier descriptor is used to classify the thermal wake of vehicle on surface and underwater vehicle. The experimental results show that the proposed method is effective in detecting the thermal wake of underwater vehicles.",
