Abstract
Two polyester fibers were used to modify asphalt mixture of AC-16I, on the basis of Marshall test, high and low temperature performance test and water stability and fatigue test. The results were contrasted and the strengthening mechanism and contribution of fibers were studied. The asphalt pavement performances, especially low temperature performances were modified in order to offer solutions for temperature cracking of asphalt pavement in frigid region. The results of test indicated that using polyester fiber could improve high temperature stability and low temperature cracking resistance performance. The length of fiber would affect the reinforcement effect. For asphalt mixture of AC-16I, the 12 mm fiber had better performances.
