title = "Anode degradation in SOFC: Fuel impurity effects on nickel component",
abstract = "Anode degradation behavior in SOFCs operating with liquid hydrocarbon fuel was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX). Nickel particles grew from 1 micrometer to more than 3 micrometer in diameter after using desulfurized kerosene in the cell test. From the cross section analysis of SEM/EDX, nickel particles had a Core-Rim structure and the surface of nickel particle was oxidized by further forced operation of the SOFC cell. On the other hand, the particle growth was negligible and Ni and ScSZ particles were uniformly distributed in the anode when n-dodecane was used.",
