Abstract
The linear vortex induced reconnection (VIR) model has been studied analytically. The result show that, for the special case when the fluid viscosity is much larger than resistivity, the growth rate scales as νv2/3, which agrees with the numerical study results of others. The vortex induced reconnection processes in periodic multiple current sheet system have also been studied and the linear growth rate is obtained. Some promising methods to solve the problem completely have also been proposed.
