Abstract
After the local failure occurred, the beam-to-column joints will be subjected to the "catenary action" to avoid the progressive collapse of structures. The joints are under the combination of bending and tension loads. This paper uses ABAQUS to analyse the static behavior of such rigid composite joints with the consideration of two different load cases and the moment-axial tension interaction relationship is obtained. The factors affecting the "catenary action" are discussed. Due to its poor ductility, it is hard to form the "catenary action" for rigid joints.
