Abstract

For a type of excavator, it was found that the noise level nearby the cooling fan on engine was very high. In front of fan, when the fan speed was 2250 r/min, the noise level even reached up to 110.5 dB. With the reverse technique, by a series of digital processing operations, e.g. scanning three-dimensional coordinates, processing point cloud data, and reconfiguring surfaces of fan blades, etc, the 3-D solid modal of fan was constructed. By simulating and computing the flow field of fan, the distribution of turbulent flow in flow field was analyzed. At last, the fan structure was improved according to simulation analysis and practical experience, and the measurement shows that the noise of fan is lowered by 1.5 dB.
