Abstract
Confronted by the ever-deteriorating problem of wind power abandoning during winter heat supply period in Northeast, North, and Northwest China, the solution of wind power accommodation by installing an electric boiler in the secondary heat supply network for daily peak-load regulation is proposed by referring to the characteristics of peak-load regulation of power grid and heat supply network following a study of the characteristics of electrical load, thermal load and wind power output. The mechanism of the scheme to improve wind power accommodation is analyzed as is the start-stop operation strategy for the peak-shaving electric boiler. An energy-saving model for the joint heat and power system based on the electric boiler for peak-load regulation at the secondary heat supply network is developed with the economic operation taken into account. The simulation result shows that this plan can reduce heat load peak value and forced power output determined by the heat of cogeneration units while increasing the valley value of electrical load. In this way, more reserve of power grid is left to enhance wind power accommodation for even greater economic benefits of the whole system.
