Abstract

For the turbulent developing flow of absorbing and isotropic scattering medium in a circular tube, the steady state heat flux of the coupled heat transfer of turbulent convection and thermal radiation under constant wall heat flux was investigated numerically. The turbulent flow and convective heat transfer was simulated by the low Renolds number k-ε model and the SIMPLEC algorithm, and the radiative heat transfer was solved by the Monte Carlo method. After obtaining the temperature in medium, the radiative heat flux was calculated by the Monte Carlo method with weight-equivalent sampling. The effects of the optical thickness and scattering albedo of medium and that of wall emissivity on the radiative and conductive heat fluxes were analyzed, and some valuable conclusions were obtained.
