Abstract
Compared with conventional orifice restriction aerostatic bearings, aerostatic porous bearings have some advantages for example high load capacity, high damp, wider stability, etc. Aerostatic porous spherical bearings have some merits such as composition of forces always points to the center of sphere and bearings operation is smooth. It has radial and axial restriction and has a wide application in industry. The theoretical analysis of spherical bearing, the process of finite element method and theoretical static performance are presented. Experiments are done on the self-manufactured rig to acquire the static performance of aerostatic porous spherical bearing, on which the performance of several types of bearings can be achieved. From the compare of numerical results and the experimental results, there is little difference between them, thus the finite element method is validated and feasible.
