In this study, the basic concepts of vehicle crash compatibility were expatiated. The relation of all influencing factors to vehicle/occupant injuries was analyzed. The status of international and domestic research on crash compatibility were reviewed in terms of collisions between vehicle to vehicle, vehicle to motorcycle/bicycle and to pedestrian, as well as the research methods for improvement of compatibility. At last, the trend of crash compatibility was predicted.
