Analysis of the Detent Force for the Long-Stator Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor with Modular Mover

Abstract

Focused on the long-stator permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (LS-PMLSM), a kind of modular mover is proposed to suppress the detent force in this paper. The structure and design principles of the motor with modular mover are explained compared with the conventional motor. The principle of the scheme, which suppresses the detent force, is expounded by establishing the detent force model. Corresponding conclusions are obtained and verified by comparing the thrust characteristics of the modular motor with that of the conventional motor.
