Abstract

When the pulse interval is sufficiently long, the range estimation bias caused by the target motion is not neglectable. In this paper, considering the single-pulse narrow-band FMCW model, we investigate the influence of the target motion on range estimation. Under the uniform motion assumption, we analytically show that the ratio of the range bias to target velocity is only related to the carrier frequency and the frequency modulation slope, and an equivalent time is defined to explain its physical meaning. Simulation results prove the effectiveness of the analysis.
