Abstract
Aimed at the shortcomings of a large number of separate small-size stator components, complicated structure, etc. for most existing transverse flux machines, in this paper the operating principle was analyzed employing the pulsating magnetic field theory, and then a novel transverse flux permanent magnet linear machine (TFPMLM) was proposed with relatively simple structure. As the magnetic coupling between phase windings was presented in the TFPMLM, the winding inductance was calculated using magnetic circuit method and 3-D finite element method, respectively, and then the problem of magnetic coupling between phases was analyzed by comparison of self-inductance and mutual-inductance. Furthermore a prototype was made to verify the calculation. The results have indicated that the proposed TFPMLM has the merit of magnetic decoupling between phases.
