Analysis of influence of basic vibration on bit error rate in space optical communications

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

It is necessary to analyze the influence of different types of vibrations when discussing the influence of satellite's vibration on bit error rate(BER) in a space optical communication system. In this paper, the vibration of satellite is simplified to a harmonic motion model. The analysis results show, when the duration is a full period, the BER is the function of vibration's amplitude, and has no relation with frequency of vibration. Following increase of amplitude the BER rapidly increases. When the duration is not full period, following increase of time the BER fluctuates, and the change of BER is less and less, the BER tends to become a constant about amplitude. This work will become the base of study the complicated vibration affect BER in free space optical communication. As the same time, this work will offer significative reference to compensation of satellite vibration's effect.
