Analysis of Fault-Tolerant Mechanism for Multi-unit Dual-Winding in-Slot Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

Abstract

With the growing demand for high reliability in aviation power systems, more stringent requirements have been placed on the fault tolerance capability of permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs). This paper studies a multi-unit intra-slot dual-winding PMSM, which offers additional options for redundant fault-tolerant design. Two vibration-damping fault-tolerant strategies are proposed under the premise of suppressing motor vibration. The electromagnetic and vibrational characteristics of the motor are theoretically analyzed, and simulations are conducted to compare the electromagnetic output performance and vibration response under three different conditions. The results demonstrate that both vibration-damping fault-tolerant strategies significantly suppress motor vibration.
