Abstract

Many factors weaken the mechanical-electrical damping of power system. Because of the limit to model, previous analysis usually focused on the influencing factors at generator side, such as the status of excitation system. The equivalent damping coefficient model including the influencing factors at both generator and network sides is established based on the sub-network by source-flow electrical dissecting, with which, the sub-path damping weight analysis model is defined to study the key electrical sub-paths seriously influencing the unit damping. The sub-path reactance damping sensitivity model and the sub-path relative phase angle sensitivity model are established to analyze the influence of sub-path parameters at network side on the unit damping. Simulation results show the differences of influence on damping between sub-networks and their parameters. The research results contribute to taking measures at both generator and network sides to improve the damping characteristics of power system.
