N2 - This paper proposed a monitoring method for inter-turn short circuit (ITSC) fault for PMSM. The paper analyzes the electromagnetic behavior of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) under single-phaseITSC fault working condition. On this basis, a new diagnosis method for ITSC fault based on 2nd ripple of d-axis and q-axis current is proposed. Furthermore, the amplitude of the 2nd ripple of d-axis and q-axis current can be used to identify the seriousness of ITSC fault. The correctness of the proposed method is verified by prototype experiment.
