Abstract

This article proposes a step-up converter aiming for boost application, which is based on three-end coupled inductor. Based on the three-end coupled inductor, the hard-switching and soft-switching dc-dc converters are proposed. The equivalent model of three-end coupled inductors and the simplified equivalent model of leakage inductance are analyzed. Furthermore, the leakage inductance distribution of planar coupled inductors is studied. An optimized three-end planar coupled inductor is designed for building a high-performance high-frequency dc-dc converter. The experimental results verify the feasibility of the proposed soft-switching converter, and the efficiency can be improved with the optimized low leakage inductance three-end coupled inductor.
