N2 - In recent years, ultra-wideband (UWB) technique was considered as a candidate for short range high data rate communications with precise location and positioning ability at the order of centimeter, and many contributions have been presented by researchers, which promoted the development of UWB technique. In this paper, the state of the art and new development of UWB technique was presented in terms of standardization, channel modeling, performance analysis, pulse waveform design, and receiver design.
