Abstract

The truss bridge laboratory is a hands-on project for experiencing an overview of civil engineering as part of the exposure of freshman engineering students to various engineering disciplines within the "Introduction to Engineering" (EGN-1002) course at the College of Engineering of the University of Florida (UF). The purpose of the laboratory is to familiarize freshman engineering students with the concept, theory, and practical side of the civil engineering discipline. It aims to aid students in the process of making an informed decision for selecting a major from eleven different departments within the College of Engineering.
