An optimized signal control method for a freight arterial transport system

Abstract

Complexity is an obvious feature of the components of traffic in our country. The vehicles' operating speed declines because of complex vehicle composition, differences in vehicles' mechanical properties, and the different saturations of traffic flow on trunk freight roads. This paper argues that there are traffic delays which are in flu e nced by the three aspects. W e analyze t he mutative regularity of traffic control parameters on a freight-traffic road and research applicable methods for traffic control on freight-traffic trunk roads which include the discussion of the timing of yellow lights, signal cycles and offset optimization. VVISSIM is applied to verify the optimized methods.
