Abstract

All the second users (SUs) share the spectrum resources with other Cognitive Radio (CR) users in the CR context and an optimization of the SU can be realized in the decision-making process by the adaptive radio parameters to the complex wireless communication environment. In this paper, an improved Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is applied to the decision-making process for the regulative radio parameters with the sequential and simultaneous modes for the multi-user CR systems. The simulation results show the performance comparisons between the Genetic Algorithm (GA) and the improved PSO algorithm, and the improved PSO algorithm outperforms than the GA. Moreover, the advantage that more users are able to communicate with each other can be revealed by the system ratio of active users and the spectrum efficiency.
