Abstract
Clean and renewable energy, such as wind, hydro and solar energy, have been developed rapidly through the world and a great number of large wind turbines have been installed in recent years. Blades are critical components of wind turbine structures and study on their dynamic properties is important and fundamental. Due to the dynamic stiffening and spin softening effects caused by gravities, centrifugals and aerodynamic forces, etc. dynamic properties of rotational wind turbine blades can be altered considerably. The present experimental and analysis work aims at obtaining structural modal parameters of rotating wind turbine blades. A 300w Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine (HAWT) and a set of special equipments are designed to acquire the signal from the accelerometers mounted in the rotating blade within the wind tunnel. Structural dynamic responses are measured under both constant and varying rotational speed for the blade. Finally the results obtained from experimental analysis carried on the blade are compared with results obtained from the finite element analysis.
