Abstract

Impulsive noise, which has a random amplitude and a short duration, is randomly distributed on feedback signals of control systems. The hysteresis filter is often used for removing impulsive noise due to its simplicity. However, in the hysteresis filter, strong attenuation of noise usually produces large phase lag, which may result in instability of feedback systems. This paper proposes a new hysteresis filter for removing impulsive noise. The proposed filter is an enhanced version of the conventional hysteresis filter, with including an integration term for compensating phase lag of output relative to input. A numerical example is presented to validate the effectiveness of the presented filter. The results show that the presented filter suppresses impulsive noise effectively, while producing smaller phase lag than the conventional one.
