An Energy-stored Quasi-Z-Source H-Bridge Converter and Coordinated Control Strategy for Medium-Voltage DC Photovoltaic Power System

Abstract

Aiming at the integration of renewable energy generations in medium-voltage DC distribution networks, this paper studies a new scheme of the photovoltaic (PV) energy-stored converter in input-series-output-series (ISOS) structure. Based on traditional phase-shifting converter, a new three-port impedance-type DC-DC converter is proposed by adding a quasi-Z-source (qZS) network. The battery connected in parallel with a capacitor of the qZS network works as the energy storage unit to deal with partial shading and power fluctuations of PV arrays. According to the characteristics of the new converter, a phase-shifting shoot-through modulation method is proposed. Meanwhile, a distributed voltage-sharing control is applied to the ISOS structure. Based on the modulation method mentioned above, the small signal model of the converter with one module is established using the state-space averaging method. Furthermore, the stability of the system with the control strategy proposed in this paper is analyzed. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed phase-shifting shoot-through modulation method and the voltage-sharing control strategy are verified by simulation.
