Amorphous nano-sized SiBONC ceramic powder prepared by a polymer-derived ceramic route

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Nano-sized SiBONC ceramic powder was synthesized from raw materials of silicon tetrachloride, benzaldehyde, boron trichloride and aniline by a polymer-derived ceramic route. Morphology and structural characteristics of the ceramic powder were investigated by means of FT-IR, XRD, EDX, TG-DTA and TEM.The SiBONC ceramic powders pyrolyzed at 1000°C are in spherical shape with a mean diameter of 80nm. The powders are in amorphous state with Si-N, Si-O-Si, B-N, Si-C groups. This ceramic powder exhibits excellent pyrolytic stability at temperature lower than 1300°C.
