Abstract

Linear motor is one of the key subsystems of electromagnetic launcher (EML) system. The air flow in the air-gap, on the outside surface of the motor, in the space of the front and back ends, is close with heat transfer, and causes aerodynamic force, so it is related to the reliability of the EML. According to the structural characteristics and theory of fluid mechanics, the solved open fluid calculation region as well as the boundary condition is given, and the fluid analytical field of the double-side tabular linear motor is established. The motion grid method, which defines the mover motion through the dynamic grid, is proposed to simulate the air flow when mover moves. The law of the air flow and aerodynamic force is calculated and analyzed.
