Abstract

The chapter begins by reviewing the characteristics and applications of aluminum alloys. It then focuses on microstructure evolution during plastic processing, and on aging behavior and age hardening in aluminum alloys. The characterization and test methods related to this research are also discussed. Finally, the chapter includes two case studies of aging behavior and microstructure evolution in the processing of 7000 series aluminum alloys and discusses future trends in the field of aluminum alloys.
