Abstract

For micro/nano fluidic applications, the boundary slip and surface potential of the solid-liquid interface and the viscosity of the liquid play important roles for the drag reduction, and it is believed that they can be affected by the magnetic treatment, which can be used to control the fluid drag in the micro/nano fluidic systems. In this paper, different magnetic strengths and different magnetic treat duration time are applied to study the effect of magnetic treatment of the liquids on the boundary slip and surface potential at various solid-liquid interfaces and the viscosity of magnetic treated liquid based on colloidal probe atomic force microscope (AFM) technique. The subject of the paper is the experimental results and the corresponding analysis.
